Who We Are

Cordia Hospitality and Tourism Institute

Lord Rana Foundation Trust was established in 1996 with the objectives to channel donations to various social and educational initiatives in Northern Ireland and India and in particular to promote diversity and understanding between different cultures. The Trust has supported a broad range of charities in Northern Ireland and is promoting education and economic initiatives in India. Smt. Jawala Devi Memorial Trust was establishing in 2001 with a view to create a progressive, revitalized society, proud and worthy of its ancient culture and easy to march with the rest of the world.

The Cordia Hospitality and Tourism Institute is part of the Lord Rana Edu City which has been founded by the Trust.

The Trust wants that the benefits of modern science should reach the common people. Lord Diljit Rana, Chairman of the Trust has a vision for the future to create a village society that in its fusion of the native values and culture and modern sciences will be a model for the whole country. This aim could be realized only by spreading educational facilities. The Trust planned to create adequate educational infrastructure and provide world class facilities. In the absence of basic educational facilities at Sanghol and surrounding areas the Trust decided to set up institutes for imparting higher education. Cordia College, Sanghol affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala was the first to start in 2005. Besides Arts courses, computer, commerce and management courses such as

M.Sc (IT), BCA, BBA, B.Com and PGDCA
are also offered in this college. Smt. Jawala Devi College of Education was setup to provide professional education to those students who want to pursue a career in teaching.

In order to offer courses which have better employment opportunities, the Trust has set up one institute for MBA course and one for the Hotel & Hospitality Management. It has also set up Heritage Institute to showcase the history of the region and as a resource centre along with an education and cultural research institute. In order to improve the quality of education at school level it has set an English medium school, Uma Rana Public School, affiliated to CBSE. An engineering institute is also coming up at the campus. These institutes have all the amenities and facilities required for such courses.

The Trust has ambitious plans for setting up institutes with international tie-ups so that the students have a better exposure and are able to get best opportunities available anywhere. So far there are two Institutes with International tie ups. The Cordia Institute of Vocational Training has been set up in collaboration with the Vocational Training Charitable Trust, UK and an Engineering Skills College is set up in collaboration with the Mansfield College, Nottingham, UK. In the future an Institute of Conflict Studies and Resolution Strategies is to be launched which will have the tie ups with the University of Ulster, UK.

The Trust will always strive to create a knowledge society which achieves all round development in the near future.
